Get In My Belly!

Over the past five years, I have been carefully and diligently losing weight. I won’t tell you exactly how much weight I’ve lost, but it is a staggering amount. I have lost this weight not by dieting but by eating sensibly and exercising regularly. Diets simply don’t work, as I know from experience. Diets by their nature are short term endeavours. People do lose weight while they are on these diets, but once they have slimmed down they go back to old habits and invariably they pile back on all the pounds they have lost plus much, much more. The only way to accomplish lasting weight loss is to undertake a complete lifestyle change – get into good habits that you will be able to stick to through your entire life.

That is what I have done, and I am very happy with the results so far. In fact I have just 14 pounds left to lose before I reach my ideal body weight. But these last 14 pounds are proving to be quite stubborn. I have not been able to make my weight go down further by any significant amount for the past year. But it hasn’t gone up either. I am 6 feet and 1 inch tall and at present I weigh just over 200 pounds. According to my body mass index, I am technically overweight. Although when I tell people that I want to be thinner, they look at me in surprise and tell me they think I am already a bit too thin and could do with some fattening up… but I feel they may have an ulterior motive as they often go on to ask me if they can borrow a fiver.

I will continue to try to reach my ideal weight, which according to my BMI is around about 185 pounds. To inspire me, I have found some Youtube goodies which will discourage me from grabbing that last slice of chocolate gateaux:

Fanboy Meltdown

Over the weekend I went to see 'Iron Man'. Needless to say it rocked. But like a fool I left the theatre before the end credits had completely finished. I should have known better, because these films often have surprises tacked on at the end, and the surprise at the end of 'Iron Man' is HUGE. Samuel L. Jackson appears with an eye patch. He identifies himself as Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD.  And he tells Tony Stark that he wants to speak to him about the Avenger initiative.  The Avengers are the Marvel equivalent of DCs Justice League, except way cooler.  Marvel announced This Bit of News today:

Needless to say, fanboys are going into meltdown as we speak:
